Golf discs are rated for their stability and flight characteristics using numbers known as "flight ratings" or "flight numbers." These ratings are usually represented by four numbers, such as 10, 5, -1, 2, which correspond to the disc's speed, glide, turn, and fade, respectively.

The speed rating is a measure of how fast the disc needs to be thrown for it to fly properly. A higher speed rating means that the disc will require more power to throw and will be more suitable for experienced players with stronger throws.

The glide rating is a measure of how well the disc stays aloft and how much it "floats" through the air. A higher glide rating means that the disc will stay in the air longer and may be more suitable for longer throws.

The turn rating is a measure of how much the disc will turn to the right (for a right-handed thrower) when it is thrown with a little bit of spin. A positive turn rating means that the disc will turn to the right, while a negative turn rating means that the disc will turn to the left.

The fade rating is a measure of how much the disc will "fade" or turn to the left (for a right-handed thrower) at the end of its flight. A positive fade rating means that the disc will fade more at the end of its flight, while a negative fade rating means that the disc will hold its line better and not fade as much.

Together, these four numbers give players an idea of how a disc is likely to fly and can help them choose the right disc for a particular shot.
